Finding Peace And Happiness In Moments Of Silence – With YouTube Guided Meditation

Posted by Catherine Morgan on March 28, 2007

Where did the saying “I just want a little peace and quiet” come from? Obviously, from someone who understood that peace can only exist in silence. The noise of life is like a barrier that stands between you and peace. But, quieting the noise with silence can break down this barrier, and open the door to the peace that is within you.

Singer and songwriter Jewel sat down with ABC News This Week’s George Stephanopoulos to discuss her support of a bill that will allow women to stay in the hospital at least 48 hours after a mastectomy. Called drive-thru mastectomies, the current practice of discharging women hours after surgery does not allow women sufficient time to heal before being released from the hospital.

During the interview Jewel placed the blame on insurance companies and HMOs who have decided that a mastectomy is not major surgery but an outpatient procedure. You have got to be kidding me, what an absurdity. READ FULL ARTICLE

Are You Happy With Your Doctor? One Thing Every Person Who Has A Doctor Should Be Doing.

Are You Happy With Your Doctor? — by Catherine Morgan

As patients, we all know that we are not always treated with the respect and dignity that we deserve. There is a site called, and I recommend that EVERYONE (whether you are sick or not) go to this site and rate both your good and your bad doctors. It is very easy to do, and it is the only way that doctors will begin to realize that they can’t just treat us as numbers and dollars, we are human beings, and they work for us. And if they do a bad job, we are going to tell. It is also a good place to check and see if a doctor you are considering going to has a good rating or not.

I can not recommend this activity enough, the internet is a great tool for consumers, and a great way for patients to take their power back. So, go to and give your good doctors the credit they deserve…..and “tattle” on all those bad doctors who have mistreated and been disrespectful to you. And then pass this information on to your friends and family.

New Study Shows Chest Compressions Most Important Part Of CPR – Would You Be More Willing To Learn CPR Now?

Posted by Catherine Morgan on March 17, 2007

A man is given CPR. Chest compression — not mouth-to-mouth resuscitation — seems to be the key in helping someone recover from cardiac arrest, according to new research that further bolsters advice from heart experts. (AP GRAPHIC)

Have People Been Reluctant To Learn CPR Because They Didn’t Want To Put Their Mouth To A Stranger? Would you be more willing to learn CPR now?

A new study shows that compressions are much more important in saving a life with CPR, than breaths are. It is more important to continue chest compressions, than it is to take the time to stop and do mouth to mouth resuscitation on someone who’s heart has stopped. It is believed that roughly 9 out of 10 cardiac arrest victims die before they get to the hospital, this is partly because they don’t get CPR. Will more people be willing to learn CPR and possibly save a life, if they don’t think they will have to put their mouth on a strangers? I guess only time will tell, as a nurse I hope the answer is yes.

If you want to learn CPR, you can go to The American Heart Association web-site.

Read article about how chest compressions are more important than breaths, in saving a life with CPR.

“Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkle – A Video Addressing Worldwide Social Issues

Like big pink popcorn balls picture by © quirkyartist

This song always reminds me of when I was a little girl. Me and my grandmother would sit at the player piano, and put this roll in. As the roll turned the words were written on the side, and me and my grandmother would sing this song while the piano played…..I would also pretend to be playing the piano while I was singing. Come to think of it; I guess we were doing Karaoke before there even was Karaoke. Anyway, it’s one of the many nice memories I have of my grandmother, and I always think of her when I hear it (and when I see trees with pink flowers). The song is Bridge Over Troubled Water. I thought it would make a good post, so here it is, I hope you like it.

Beauty Is Hidden In The Midst Of Any Darkness, Try To Find It

Beauty Is Hidden In The Midst Of Any Darkness

Find Your Way Out Of The Darkness — by Catherine Morgan

Challenge yourself to see past the darkness in your life, and find the beauty. Walk through your life today, just a little slower, and just a little more aware. How you see your life is ultimately up to you; if you see yourself as sad, then you are sad. When there is no light at the end of your tunnel, it is because you are choosing not to see it. Just remember that the darkness can not exist without the light, darkness is simply the ying to the lights yang. So, if you are having one of those “dark nights of the soul”, know that when you are ready, you can choose to let the light back in.

Be The Angel In Someones Life Today — Give Them The Gift Of Kindness

Posted by Catherine Morgan on March 6, 2007

I came across this article today and I thought it would be something to share with all of you. These are great ideas on ways that you can spread random acts of kindness, and make a positive difference in someones life. Sometimes, the smallest kind gesture, can be what turns around someones day. Not only does your kindness resonate with the person you have been kind to, but the more you do this, the more you change your own personal energy, and in-turn bring more kindness and kind people into your own life. Try it for a week and see if you notice a difference. Be an angel in someones life today, and give them the gift of kindness.

Global Warming is such a huge problem, one that makes an ordinary person feel they may not be able to do anything to stop it. But, there are things we can do to help, I found a great web site that addresses this, and I wanted to share it with all of you. How We Can Empower Our Children By Empowering Ourselves — by Catherine Morgan

I wanted to write a post about children today, but I wasn’t sure how to start it. Then I remembered how about 12 years ago (shortly after I had my second child), I was driving to my job, and I heard a song on the radio that really resonated with me. The song was called “The Greatest Love Of All – by Whitney Houston”. At the time, it made me feel like I finally understood what my purpose was in life, and I felt empowered by it. I needed to become strong, and confident, and fearless. I needed to be empowered enough to step out of my comfort zone, and become the women I was meant to be. I needed to become the kind of person that I wanted my children to become. Let me share some of those thoughts with you now, and at the end of this post you can listen to the song and see if it doesn’t ring true for you as well.
